Is SailQuiz for complete beginners?
Yes. Start with Sailing Foundations for boat parts, sailing language and basic manoeuvres. Basic Keelboat Theory adds US-oriented fundamentals. If you are studying coastal navigation or radio, choose Day Skipper Theory or Marine Radio SRC.
What can I do for free?
Download free and take 1 full quiz and 3 Daily Challenge rounds each day. Answer explanations, smart review, streaks and progress tracking are included. Optional Premium removes the daily quiz and challenge limits.
Can I study without a signal?
Yes. Learning content is bundled in the app, so you can practise offline. Purchases, restoring a subscription and refreshing subscription status require a connection. The app also sends usage analytics when connected; see our privacy policy for details.
Do I need an account? Does progress sync?
No SailQuiz account or login is required. Your study progress is stored on your device, not synced through a SailQuiz account. Restoring a store purchase restores eligible access, not your study history.
Is this an official RYA, ASA or US Sailing course?
No. SailQuiz is independent supplementary study, with its own practice questions. RYA, American Sailing (ASA) and US Sailing run separate training programmes. The app does not award a qualification, use official exam papers, or replace their teaching, practical instruction or assessment.
Which devices and courses are supported?
SailQuiz is available for iPhone, iPad and Android. The latest iOS release has 6 courses: Sailing Foundations, Basic Keelboat Theory, Day Skipper Theory, Marine Radio SRC, Kitesurfing Foundations and COLREGs Interactive. The new interactive course is confirmed on iOS; check your Android app’s course list for availability.
