HogView is a read-only iOS client for the analytics and revenue services you already use. Common answers are below; if none of them fits, write and a person will read it.

What HogView is

An independent, read-only iOS client for viewing your metrics from PostHog, RevenueCat, Stripe, Sentry, App Store Connect and Plausible. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by PostHog or any of the other services it connects to. It never edits anything in those services — it only reads.

Getting help

Email [email protected]. There is no ticketing system and no chatbot.

When reporting a problem, please include:

  • iOS version and device model
  • HogView version (Settings → About)
  • Which service the problem involves, and whether it is the vendor's cloud or a self-hosted instance
  • What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead
  • A screenshot if the problem is visual — but crop or redact revenue figures and API keys first; never email an API key

What the developer cannot do for you

HogView has no accounts and no server. Your API keys live only in your device's Keychain, and your cached metrics live only on your device. That is a deliberate trade, and the cost of it is real: nothing can be recovered for you — not keys, not settings, not cached data. Delete the app or sign out and reconnecting means re-entering your keys. The underlying numbers are not at risk: they live with your services, and reconnecting brings them back.

Common questions

A tile shows an error instead of a number

The tile names its actual cause rather than going blank — an expired or revoked key, a rate limit, or an outage at the service itself. If the key is the problem, replace it in Settings → Integrations. One failing tile never blanks the rest of the screen.

Widgets don't appear on my Home Screen

Home Screen widgets require iOS 17. On iOS 16 the app works fully, without widgets. Widgets are also part of HogView Pro. If you are on iOS 17 or later with Pro active, add the widget the usual way: long-press the Home Screen, tap the plus button, and search for HogView.

The numbers look older than I expect

The freshness badge shows the age of the oldest number on screen, not the moment you last pulled to refresh — so a screen is only ever as current as its stalest tile. Pull to refresh to fetch again. If a service is unreachable, the badge says so rather than presenting cached figures as current ones.

Which services can HogView read?

Six: PostHog, RevenueCat, Stripe, Sentry, App Store Connect and Plausible. Each connects with a key or token you create in that service and can revoke at any time.

Can HogView change anything in my PostHog project?

No. HogView is read-only by construction: no method on its provider interface writes. There is no code path that could edit a dashboard, an insight, a feature flag, an experiment or a setting in any connected service.

Some of my PostHog insights look different in the app

Most insight types are drawn natively: trends, funnels, retention, tables, pie charts and text tiles. Lifecycle and stickiness are rendered as lines and bars respectively. Paths and world map are shown as a labelled unsupported-type card rather than as a chart that would misrepresent them. Insights use the date ranges they were saved with.

Where are my API keys stored?

In the iOS Keychain on your device, with WHEN_UNLOCKED_THIS_DEVICE_ONLY protection, which keeps them off backups and off other devices. They are sent only to the service they belong to, over HTTPS. There is no HogView server for them to pass through.

What is free, and what needs Pro?

The free plan gives you one product, one connected source and three pinned metrics — with the entire viewing surface at full fidelity: every dashboard, every insight, every activity grid, every comparison. HogView Pro removes those three limits and adds the Home Screen widget, the daily digest, alerts, and calculated metrics. It costs $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year, and the annual plan includes a 7-day free trial.

What happens if my subscription lapses?

Nothing is taken away. Every limit in HogView is add-only, so the products, sources and pinned metrics you already have stay readable and removable — you simply cannot add more until you subscribe again.

How do I cancel?

Subscriptions are billed by Apple, so cancel in Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions → HogView on your iPhone or iPad. The developer has no access to your Apple account and cannot cancel or refund on your behalf; for refunds, use Apple's Report a Problem page.

Can I try it without an API key?

Yes. Sample-data mode runs the whole app on a fictional product, so you can move through dashboards, insight detail, activity grids and the freshness states before connecting anything of your own.
